One of the stranger theories behind motion sickness, explained.
The focus of this project was narrative techniques and how they can be used to explain a process found in nature. Rather than choosing a common scientific or natural process, I chose a process a little bit more unnatural. In order to channel the uncomfortableness of motion sickness, I chose colors that vibrate off of each other and aren’t very pleasant to look at, along with 3D animation that looks 2D, and creates the sensation that things are moving when they really aren’t.
✱ RESEARCH
I gathered a lot of research on what scientists think causes motion sickness and chose the most interesting theory. My goal was to translate motion sickness to visuals that mimicked the sensation of motion sickness, but while still keeping it aesthetically pleasing.
✱ MOODBOARDS
I explored a few different ideas of what the visuals could be in the moodboard phase.
